Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's something about Microsoft Outlook that drives you crazy?
4·6 months agoYeah, for work I also have the outlook app on the phone, and that’s even worse; some kind of overwatch policy prevents me from getting pop-ups reminding me which meeting I have, instead prompting me that I have a calendar event, and I should open outlook to see what it is. Then I have some additional hoops to jump through to actually view, so I gave up on that years ago. For now, a piece of paper it is.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's something about Microsoft Outlook that drives you crazy?
8·6 months agoI tought that was me! This week I finally gave up on it, and started printing my calendar for the day. Welcome to 30 years ago I guess.
I only view the channels I’m following, and never click on anything else there. So as long as Youtube doesn’t inject te AI shit in those channels, I’m good.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is it with metalmusic that makes it blend so well with traditional folk music?
41·7 months agoYou’re confused with punk. And the saying was from the early days of punk, so late 1970’s early 1980’s.
A copper still I made from an old boiler while test running it. Was a nice hobby pre covid, I should pick it up again.
Tip; use some kecap manis (sweet soy sauce) instead of maggi.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What’s a thing you miss that you’re 90% sure was objectively awful?
191·7 months agoGoing out with friends between 1991 and 1997. It was a great time looking back, but most night probably were just a lot of (underage) drinking and not much else.
I’m the same age as you, you’re fine.
I used to go to the Dutch MotoGP with friends in the 90’s. Back then you were still allowed to bring your own beer, so all of us carried a cooler full of beer. I saw a lot of things there, but no motorcycles. Come to think about about it, the only friend who liked MotoGP didn’t go with us.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why do people let their children stream themselves on YouTube?
21·8 months agoWhy not?
Yes. I mostly support whatever charity that comes door to door, except some big ones who won’t take money but try to reel you into a monthly plan. I also support some Ukrainian artists on Patreon. And I support organizations like doctors without borders if they’re in the news, especially when the right wingers start spewing their “what about me” rhetoric.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Torn between needing the job and staying true to my values
62·8 months agoTake the job. If you don’t take it, some asshole who agrees with the changes will take it. Better to be you to take it, so it goes out of the anti-woke echo chamber.
Probably by explaining he’s wrong because she smells like a whole different list of ingredients.
One of my sons can crack about every joint in his body, including toes, but elbows only rarely.
I do it by focusing on my torso and in my head decelerate it, I guess it’s similar. Also, a guy I know can do it through breathing technique, and I suspect breathing is part of my deceleration too.
I can rumble my ears, do the vulcan greet, do Stan Laurel’s kneesy earsy nosey and the finger wriggle. I can also measurable lower my heart rate by conscious effort alone, and increase my body temperature by concentrating on it.
Ear rumbling was gonna be my superpower. And I can indeed also use this to some extent to repressurize my ears.
