I guess what they’re saying is, even though it’s “not supported” officially, you can still try and there’s good chances it’ll work anyway. If you need or prefer to stick to a supported configuration, it seems your options are either to switch to podman and figure out nextcloud, or switch away from RHEL.
From what I understand, there was no hack nor fork in the recent news about Signal, it was human error, somebody literally invited the wrong person to the chat 🙄

As for WhatsApp, it’s true that being Meta they collect everything they can, mostly metadata, but don’t they still implement the same end-to-end encryption as Signal? So, at least the actual content is your messages and calls should be truly private, i.e. out of reach even of Meta (and let’s say, all of this using a phone with no google e.g. graphene or lineage or calyxos). Please correct me if I’m wrong.
Despite being in the hands of the zuck, whatsapp is more private and secure than telegram, and not because of any collaboration with X/twitter, it’s been that way forever… so go ahead and use it (but if you can, signal is even better on that front).
True, a literally steep learning curve means you’d learn very quickly!
That’s one way to do it. The other is to leverage your network (if available to you) and ask people if they can refer you internally. I’ve had a lot more success with the second method.
How common is such a test in the US? I work in the US and so far, I’ve never been asked to perform a drug test, ever. Then again, maybe I’ve been lucky…
but is it really unlimited? At my last job, it was “unlimited with manager’s approval”, which basically means as long as the manager approves you’re good to go, no hard limits, but in practice managers wouldn’t approve more than 2-4 weeks (10-20 work days) a year, usually.

As for the canadian woman with improper paperwork, I can tell you usually the worst that can happen (well, before now, that is) was that they’d take you to a separate room for a few hours to check and question you, and, if things eventually check out, they let you through, else, you’d be sent back, especially at a land crossing. You wouldn’t be detained for months, unless you committed some crime or had a warrant
The insurance will never pay more than the value of the car, so if the repair cost goes too high they’ll just declare it a total loss and pay the “fair market value” of the car. And yes, a total loss is more likely, but that doesn’t mean the insurance pays more, on the contrary, they use that to pay less.

Signal is better for privacy than whatsapp, and of course whatsapp is owned by meta and it leaks some … metadata to them (pun intended), but as for their end to end encryption, it actually uses the same exact scheme as signal, so even if you’re forced to use it, it’s still not that bad. Way better than telegram, for example (avoid telegram).
Using Signal or other secure messaging apps should be normalized, not reserved for people who are at risk, else the simple fact that you use it raises suspicions. Not sure if this argument is enough to convince your friends … maybe just tell them you like it better due to some feature it has?
If the competitors developed a highly wanted feature before you, either you were already in the process of developing it, can do so quickly (and let’s say it’s not patented or other legal issues), or if not, it’s better IMHO to spend time to do it better then your competitor, or to come up with some even more compelling feature, to regain the lead. Of course, they’ll try to do the same and so on.
So, more like:
CEO: competitor X just released Y, how can we make something better to get ahead? how quickly can we get that?

First, while everyone thinks the CEO is the boss, they aren’t. They are hired and fired by the Board of Directors. The Board has a strategic objective for the company and has tasked the CEO with making that strategy reality
Unless the CEO also sits on the board of directors … but at least they won’t be making the decision unilaterally.
I believe the point is, once some data is publicly available, even if you try to delete it, you can never be sure all copies are truly gone. Like you said, maybe it lives on somebody’s hard drive, maybe some other user managed to scrape it for their own personal use, maybe they screenshotted the most compromising posts, etc. You can never be sure it’s gone.
