Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Any foods you prefer or can't stand depending on whether they are raw, fresh, pickled, cooked etc?
1·6 months agoCooked veggies in general. I need crispness to eat them, so mostly raw or very, very lightly cooked.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Just woke up vomiting, choking on vomit, not drunk or on drugs, heart beating slightly off. Is this ER worthy?
5·6 months agoDoesn’t look likes it’s passed yet, but that isn’t good news.

161·6 months agoMedical debt in the US is an unsecured debt. You won’t be thrown in jail or any impact on credit if it takes you forever to pay it off. Go to the emergency room and ask for a payment plan when the bills due. Then, do what you wish with the first sentence I wrote.
Yeah, when I dream, it’s pretty lucid. My wife says I do everything from mumbling to full-on conversations on a fairly regular basis.
Computer - Commodore 64

I think I got the cancer punch card. Both paternal grandparents, and my dad (unsure about Mom, not in the picture) had cancer. Lost both grandparents and dad is currently undergoing treatment.
Yay.
Current OLED tech has reduced burn-in to almost zero. I can’t remember what major tech site did extensive burn testing but they found almost all current gen models had almost zero issues. The ones with any noticeable retention went through the pixel cleaning and was almost good as new.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do movies always get wrong about your job/hobby?
8·7 months agoAs the flipside to the question, pretty much any customer facing job like retail, sales, or food service have been spot on, especially if they are specifically calling those industries out. Superstore, Waiting, Office Space etc. are so damn accurate to the pain of working them.
To the original question, I think it was mentioned earlier, but anything with a gun is typically wrong. The struggling artist who can afford immense loft apartments in downtown cities. Ghost hunting/supernatural expeditions are so glamorized. They NEVER tell you how much time it takes to review everything.

Spirited Away is my favorite with Ponyo close behind. Mononoke is what got me started and is probably the best one, but the other 2 just hit differently.
All. The. Time.
I have been able to intervene several times in situations that were about to go south.
This translates to driving too. I always assume everyone is about to do something dumb, it’s saved my ass from several serious accidents.
Super Mario World. It was the first one to really unlock gaming for me. I go back and play it fairly often.
Overwatch is the weird one. The game just clicks for me, and when I’m in the zone, doing call outs and nailing upcoming enemy ults or pushes just feels so good.
I know a guy who got Abe Simpson crawling out of his butt crack.
Real life Jake the dog
Their app is such hot garbage. I have had to pirate episodes because my app gets frozen on ads and refuses to play an episode.
Parks and Rec. It copied The Office too much in season 1. Came back after a few years and couldn’t believe how different season 1 and 2 were.

In a single person’s lifetime, we went from not flying to landing on the moon. We absolutely can produce AGI in most of our lifetimes. I predict within 15-20 years, we will have a functioning AGI. It may also need to coincide with actually figuring out quantum computing just for sheer computational needs.
This all hinges on if investments in AI continue at its current pace, which we already see cracks in though.
