8 months agoa lot of European countries have a policy of 5 years legal residence -> permanent residence/green card.
I would like to stress that rules vary (wildly) between countries. In the Netherlands for example you’ll probably need a sponsor, e.g. a partner, employer or educational institution to qualify for a residence permit.
Ensure you familiarise yourself with the rules of the country you want to move to and don’t expect things will be about the same in other EU countries.
Lemmy is the only social media platform where I have an account. No Facebook, no Reddit, no LinkedIn, etc. From time to time I do read a post on Reddit, when it comes up in search results. When you have an obscure gaming or Linux issue, Reddit can (unfortunately) still be a treasure trove.
